Chaga is a powerful immunoregulator that has been a regular cure-all in many cultures. First scientifically studied by Soviet Russia, Befunginum or Chaga was suspected of reducing cancer cases in a population of russian farmers spurring the first research which has shown Chaga to be implemented in many forms of cancer treatment. TCM practicioners speaks of it as a detoxifying agent, blood purifier and immunity booster. Chaga is super packed with anti-oxidixing compounds providing anti-inflammatory effects. It’s immune regulating and boosting qualities derive from an abundance of beta-glucans, minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates, steroids and proteins. Chagas rich quality of triterpenoids, polyphenols, and polysaccharides can reduce inflammation, prevent and fight cancer by inhibiting cancer cell proliferation, and it helps with diabetes, lower cholesterol, and fight cardiovascular disease. Chaga helps restore and maintain homeostasis by increasing the efficacy of macrophages assisting the removal of pathogens.
Potentially carrying oxalates, it is recommended that those with kidney disease or those who have previously had kidney stones to not consume any chaga.
Sourced on the shores of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of MI, a healthy Chaga sample was dual extracted with a soxhlet apparatus. First with water and then with alcohol. A 1:1 rtio H2O to Eth. was used. The Chaga body was calcined to white ash and the alkali minerals were extracted and cohobated with the dual extract.
